Hypermagnesemia occurs in a variety of clinical situations. It is often a complication
in patients with renal insufficiency and in those who receive magnesium therapeutically.
Diagnosis is fairly straightforward if an appropriate index of suspicion of the disorder
is entertained. The clinical presentation, diagnosis, and management of hypermagnesemia
is discussed.
